Google Summer of Code

I spent the summer of 2019 with CHAOSS as an open-source developer as part of the 15th edition of the Google Summer of Code, and it was the best summer of my life.

I worked on fetching the data of various projects using Perceval, which internally uses Github’s API, and then analyzing it to understand the health of open source projects. CHAOSS defines several metrics to evaluate open-source projects, and I implemented them.

Apart from creating several notebooks as examples, I built a script that fetches this data and creates beautiful visualizations and exports it to various formats like pdf, markdown and HTML.

GSoC Microtasks

Most organizations require applicants to the Google Summer of Code to attempt a series of microtasks, so maintainers get an idea of what each candidate is capable of.

My organization, CHAOSS had a similar requirement. To find out more, head over to my repository.

These tasks range from the bare minimum — like being able to use the project the candidate will be working on — to more complex stretch tasks, which aren’t a requirement to get selected but provide a good opportunity for ambitious candidates to try and stand out.

BlogCode

Not exactly a project but something I’m glad I started.

I blog on several technical topics with a focus on data science, machine learning and programming. I try and structure my blog posts so that they encompass a singular topic.

Each blog post also has code, ranging from snippets to fully functional chatbots. All this is housed in a GitHub repository.

More coming soon…

It’s a new website so haven’t added all my projects yet. They should all be up pretty soon.
